Brazil records record ethanol exports in 2008: report

In Brazil, the Ministry of Mines and Energy is reporting that the country exported a record 1.365 billion gallons of ethanol in 2008, an increase of 45 percent over 2007. The average price realized was $1.78 per gallon, up 16 percent over 2007. Overall, Brazil recorded 2.42 billion from ethanol exports in 2008, according to the report. The major customer for ethanol, was the US, which imported 740 million gallons in 2008 of sugarcane ethanol.
