The Kansas Bioscience Authority has awarded a $500,000 grant to ICM, the ethanol plant design and engineering firm, for the development of a gasification system that will convert biomass to synfuels for power generation. The company said that it will invest an additional $1.7 million into the project, which was the largest recipient of grant funds from the state authority which aims to accelerate biotech development in Kansas. The state fund awarded $1 million to ICM last October in support of its cellulosic ethanol development activities.
