Sirona Fuels acquires California’s Blue Sky Biofuels; aims for biodiesel expansion based on WVO, jatropha
In California, Sirona Fuels acquired Oakland’s Blue Sky Biofuels with its 15 Mgy permit for waste vegetable oil-based biodiesel, and said that the new company will expand based on new sources of WVO, plus a jatropha oil venture that will initially focus on Haiti and later expand to India and other countries.
The company is already developing jatropha farms in Haiti and is active in setting up a Sirona Foundation in Haiti as well as a partnership with C3 Missions.
The company is headed by veteran renewable energy attorney Paul Lacrouciere, who said that the company will develop a series of jatropha development partnerships and affiliates to bring jatropha-based biofuels to market in the US.
