Wesley Clark to become co-chairman of Growth Energy, trade group aimed at raising E10 ethanol cap
In Washington, former US Army General and US Presidential candidate Wesley Clark has joined ethanol industry advocates Growth Energy as co-chairman.
Growth Energy was formed by POET, ICM, Hawkeye Renewables among other ethanol industry key players as an alternative to the Renewable Fuel Association.
The current primary focus of Growth Energy is removing the 10 percent cap on ethanol blending, which Growth Energy members say is unnecessary and limits the potential of ethanol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote energy independence. Growth Energy reports that, for every billion gallons of ethanol blended, up to 20,000 US jobs are created.
General Clark was one of the most highly decorated US army commanders, served as NATO field commander in the Balkan intervention, and was a 2004 US presidential candidate.
