Washington State’s junior senator, Maria Cantwell, has been appointed to chair the key Senate subcommittee of energy, and said that she believes the subcommittee can and will play a greater role in the development of climate change legislation as well as enable the development of clean energy technologies. Cantwell chief of staff Maura O’Neill has been rumored as a candidate fro the key Energy Department post of Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
