Today in Biofuels Opinion: “There are very few low-carbon energy options for reducing aviation emissions, and alternative fuels may be the only option for large-scale use in the short term.”

Dr Taïeb Chérif, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization: “Alternative fuels on their own are not, and never will be, the solution. There are very few low-carbon energy options for reducing aviation emissions, and alternative fuels may be the only option for large-scale use in the short term. Nevertheless, the decision to develop and use alternative fuels must be an informed and responsible one, taking into account total life-cycle costs and carbon footprints.”

Barry Cohen, president of the National Algae Association: “The National Algae Association has received a request for algae biomass.  The requesting party is willing to issue off-take contracts for all it can purchase, but specifically needs 1500 – 2000 gallons immediately to test for one particular project.  Please contact us if you are in a position to sell algae biomass.”
