In Idaho, OriginOil announced a multi-phase Cooperative Agreement with the Idaho National Laboratory that will focus on validation and commercial scaling of algae-based fuels. In the initial phase, the partners will jointly develop an energy balance model for photobioreactor-based algae systems. OriginOil said it plans to use the model to optimize its algae-to-oil technology as early as the 1st Quarter of 2009.
Subsequent phases will center on validation of the OriginOil processes and piloting specific commercial applications.
