Reuters has published a table of operating pilot-scale cellulosic ethanol plants, commercial scale plants under development, and pilot plants under development. The news agency totaled four, nine and 20 plants in each category with 3.07 Mgy, 225.5 Mgy, and 82.47 Mgy in annual capacity respectively. AE Biofuels, KL Energy, Poet and Verenium were credited with having opened existing facilities, with KL Energy’s 1.5 Mgy facility reported as the nation’s largest operating CE plant.
