In California, cellulosic ethanol pioneer BlueFire Ethanol Fuels secured 28 air permits from the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District. The permits are part of the final go-ahead process for the company’s demonstration-scale 3.7 Mgy cellulosic ethanol plant in Lancaster. The Lancaster facility provides access to 170 tons per day of waste biomass from a co-located landfill. The facility will use the Arkenol concentrated sulphuric acid hydrolysis process.
