In India, Hindustan Petroleum said that it will invest $116 million to re-start sugarcane mills it has acquired in Bihar. The plants will produce sugar, ethanol and 100 MW of power from sugarcane bagasse. The Sugauli and Lauriya mills have been closed since 1996. Ethanol capacity at each mill will be 12 Mgy, based on a mill crushing capacity of 3500 metric tons per day.
