Canadian Waste-to-energy pioneer Enerkem makes the AlwaysOn Top 50
In Canada, Enerkem received a GoingGreen East Top 50 Private Company 2009 award by AlwaysOn as one of the top 50, private emerging companies in the US and Canada in the field of clean energy. The GoingGreen East 50 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists and industry insiders.
Enerkem, backed by Rho Ventures, Braemar Energy Ventures, and the Canadian investment fund BDR Capital produces next-generation biofuels and green chemicals with a gasification, sequential gas conditioning and catalysis technology that utilizes municipal solid waste, forest biomass and agricultural residues as feedstocks. The company has had a pilot plant in operation since 2003 and is starting up a full-scale commercial facility in Westebury, Quebec.
