In South Africa, First In Spec BioDiesel announced at the African Biofuels conference in Midrand that it plans to construct a $26.3 million 13 Mgy biodiesel plant will use waste vegetable oil as a feedstock. The company said it had already signed letters of intent for offtake of 30 percent of the plant’s capacity. The company will provide $5.5 million in equity and is seeking financing for the project.
