US government to buy 17,000 new fuel efficient vehicles from GM, Ford, Chrysler

In  Washington, President Obama announced that the U.S. General Services Administration will spend $285 million to buy more than 17,000 new, fuel-efficient vehicles from GM, Chrysler, and Ford. The purchase includes 2500 hybrid vehicles and each vehicle purchased increases fuel efficiency by a minimum of 10 percent over the car it replaces.
