Bulgaria to revise renewable energy legislation in face of altfuels slowdown

In Bulgaria, a group of government officials and renewable energy experts have been asked to draft new renewable energy legislation. According to a report in Sofia Echo, “At present, the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Surveillance (SAMTS), which should regulate the sector, has its hands tied by poor statutory rules, and the alternative fuels market is practically stalled.” Ethanol industry representatives said that under current regulations and proposals, biofuels would be scrapped altogether.
