Defense Science Board member says petroleum fuel in advance areas in Iraq costing $418 per gallon; cost-cutting an aim of DoD’s biofuels focus

In California, Professor George Poste of Arizona State University, a member of the Defense Science Board of Department of Defense, and chair of the Task Force on Bioterrorism, said at the Burrill & Company Limited Partners meeting that the cost of delivering fossil fuels to the military in Iraq is now $418 per gallon, and said that the Department of Defense is highly motivated to invest in biofuels development in order to control the cost of fuels supplied to forward areas.
