In Ireland, researchers announced that they have developed a new process for developing biodegradable PHA bioplastics from waste plastics using bacteria. The process uses pyrolysis to produce oils, then feds the oils to bacteria who excrete PHA. The process works on polystyrene and water bottle plastic.
Further, a scientific team at Brooklyn Polytechnic has developed a system to convert plastics into biodiesel using enzymes.
