Fischer-Tropsch improvement sought in $5 million research project in Ohio

In Ohio, the Third Frontier Research Commercialization Program has awarded $5 million grant awarded to Velocys, a subsidiary of the Oxford Catalysts Group to develop microchannel reactors in alternative fuel production facilities, that make it possible to convert small quantities of Fischer-Tropsch materials to meet diesel and jet fuel specifications.

Velocys will develop methods for hydrocracking of heavy waxes that are converted to diesel fuel. diesel fuels. The research is hoped to lead to smaller F-T units and better overall economics.
