At the UN, the Public-Private Alliance Foundation brought delegates from Brazil, Dominican Republic, USA, Honduras and Haiti to examine the potential to cultivate bio-fuels, with a focus on the Dominican Republic. The high-level group, meeting at the “Partners Against Poverty” event, concluded hat access to long-term capital is the major barrier to cultivation of jatropha and sugarcane ethanol in the country.
A follow-up discussions will be held at the United Nations in June before the Renewable Sources of Energy conference.
