There seems to be a growing divide in this country between those who try to hang on to the past--at least the past before it imploded on them last September--and younger Americans who realize that they&#039;ve got to change the present if they expect to have a future. 

Even here in this traditionally  &quot;red&quot; state of Tennessee, Obama got an overwhelming percentage of the 35-and-under vote. I do class presentations on biofuels at a local high school and it&#039;s amazing to see the chasm between the views of parents and children, which probably hasn&#039;t been this great since the &#039;60s.

My guess is that more fissures will open up in the economy this fall and we&#039;ll all finally realize that there&#039;s no going back.</description>
