Highlands Ethanol secures Florida county support in Community Development Block Grant app

In Florida, Highlands County commissioners approved a resolution unanimously this week to support a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant application for the proposed $150 million Highlands Ethanol plant, proposed for a location southeast of Lake Istokpoga.

Highlands Ethanol officials said that the grant would be used to fund electricity, roadwork, gas, sewer and water services. Highlands County is also the location of the proposed $2560 million Verenium-BP cellulosic ethanol plant.
