In Washington, the DOE and USDA have made research grants of $6.2 million covering seven projects that will explore the genomics of switchgrass, sorghum, alfalfa, and other biofuels feedstocks. The DOE granted $4 million for four projects, and the USDA granted $2.2 million for three projects.
Among programs, a team at the University of Georgia will study miscanthus genomics, while the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service in Lincoln, NE will study the genomics of switchgrass.
