In Canada, the Amaizeingly Green ethanol plant in Ontario said that it would restart production after investing $650,000 in noise and odor control products that it said would amend problems that had led to neighborhood protests that shut the plant down.
The company said that its four-week shut down cost a total of $1.2 million, but said it expects to recommence production this week after a test phase is completed. The plant was shut down after the Ministry of the Environment order compliance with odor and noise conditions that were originally agreed to when the plant started up at the former Nacan starch plant. The company paid a total of $340,000 in fines for non-compliance.
