In California, the 30 Mgy Crimson Renewable Energy biodiesel plant in Kern County officially opened. State Sen. Dean Florez was on hand for ribbon-cutting. The company says it will use a combination of waste oils, animal fats and oilseed crops as feedstocks.
The opening increased California’s biodiesel capacity from 34 Mgy to 64 Mgy.
