In Minnesota, Guardian Energy has agreed in principle on the acquisition of the 100 Mgy Janesville ethanol plant, previously owned by VeraSun Energy. The plant was acquired in 2007 by VeraSun as part of the US BioEnergy acquisition, and was later acquired by AgStar Financial Services in a bankruptcy auction last March.
The acquisition is scheduled to close in September, and the plant is expect to restart operations by November. Sept. 15, and Guardian Energy plans to have it operational within two months of the closing. AgStar, which has sold four former VeraSun plants so far, is expected to announce divestiture of the Dyersville, Iowa plant later this week.
