In South Africa, the Industrial Development Corporation announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Development Bank. One of the objects of the agreement is to exchange of technical information exchange, as well as developing co-financing opportunities for industrial projects, including biofuels.
South Africa’s 2006 biofuels strategy document identified corn as a key potential feedstock for South Africa, but concerns over food vs fuel led to a ban on using corn for biofuels, resulting in the stalling of South African biofuels development.
