In Iowa, Don Hofstrand, Co-director of the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center at Iowa State tackled GHG emissions from corn and ethanol production, including trends in lowering emission from corn production, including higher yields, tillage, fertilizer efficiency, renewable ammonia, reduced corn drying, and use of renewable fuels for tractors and trucks.
In ethanol production, the report examined trends in adding high value co-products, increased energy efficiency, the growth of wet distillers grains via integrated operations. The report critiqued the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard for including fixed emissions levels for ethanol in the face of improving technologies and techniques.
