Reports says Australia could produce 25 percent of its fuel from bioenergy by 2025; no competition with food

In  Australia, a report produced by the Southern Cross University’s Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics concluded that Australia could rely on bioenergy for up to 30 percent of transportation fuel use by 2025. The report said that 100 processing centers for bioenergy would be required, and would avoid direct competition with food production by focusing on energy crops such as eucalyptus grown on land that would not support food crops.

The report said that the program would result in 3450 jobs in agriculture and transport, 28,000 in construction and 16,000 in the bioprocessing.
