In Pakistan, the state oil company PSO launched E10 ethanol in Karachi, at an 11 cent discount per gallon to gasoline. The discount reflects lower national taxes on the renewable fuel.
Irfan Qureshi, Managing Director of PSO told The News that Pakistan produces some 400,000 tons of ethanol annually and the government would annually save $100 to $130 million foreign exchange with E10 fuel consumption,” which would utilize only 45 percent of domestic consumption if blended as E10.
