German brewery cuts CO2 emissions, 5 gallons of oil per 100 gallons of beer, with biogas technology
In Germany, the Bavarian State-Brewery “Weihenstephan” announced the start up of a Enbaferm biogas demonstration plant. This marks one of the first demonstration plants for production of high quality biogas from brewery residues. Using the process, 5 gallons of heating oil (used per 100 gallons of beer) are replaced with biogas.” The Enbaferm Bioreactor was been developed by enbasys , an engineering company specialized on biogas plants, located in Grambach, Austria.
The concept is applicable to essentially any commercial size brewery. enbasys gmbh and its partners can deliver turnkey plants for breweries with an annual beer production of about 25,000 barrels per year up to millions of barrels per year. The Joint Venture for Brewer’s Spent Grains Anaerobic Digestion consists of ATRES engineering biogas, enbasys gmbh and Kaspar Schulz.
