In the Bahamas, Environment Minister Phenton Neymour announced a National Energy Policy “to reduce the reliance on fossil fuel, address energy security and energy efficiency”.
At the same time, the minister announced that Bahamas Waste has been approved for a biodiesel project using waste vegetable oil. The company will utilize the biodiesel for its own collection and disposal fleet. Bio-diesel Ltd, Bio-fuels Bahamas Ltd, and Harmony Bio-fuels in Grand Bahama have also receive preliminary OKs for biofuels projects in the islands.
