In Germany, Biopetrol reports that European biodiesel producers have raised complaints against what they describe as subsidized Argentine biodiesel after imports from Argentina have flooded the European market in the wake of punitive tariffs being placed on US biodiesel.
Executives at Biopetrol said in a Reuters report that its sales have fallen to $100 million in the first half of 2009, down from $200 million in the first half of 2008, due to US and now Argentine exports. The German biofuels association confirmed to Reuters that plants are operating at a total of 20 percent of capacity.
