Aussie group says farmers, motorists, fuel distributors, environmentalists, livestock raisers oppose ethanol mandates

In Australia, protests over the Queensland state 5 percent ethanol mandate have been received from the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association, which said that there is little if any statewide support for the government-imposed mandate.

ALFA told FarmOnline that “almost every representative body for farmers, service stations, motoring groups, fuel distributors, consumers, welfare groups, environmentalists, stock feed manufacturers, intensive livestock industries and even biofuels are opposed to ethanol mandates”.

ALFA said that the mandate will lead to higher prices for grain and food, noting that 50 percent of the mandated fuel will be produced from grain.
