In Vietnam, the Dong Xahn company has commenced ethanol production at its 23 Mgy ethanol plant in Quang Nam. The plant reported that it produced a first batch of 500,000 gallons from a combination of cassava and sugar cane.
The plant commenced construction in 2007 as a part of an effort by PetroVietnam and the central government to diversify the national fuel supply. Blended ethanol will be offered at an undisclosed discount to the price of unblended gasoline.
