Biofuels Digest readers selected St. Louis as the “King of Algal Energy” as the center of the most important developments in algal fuel development.
The Gateway City received 73.1 percent of votes, with San Diego a distant second at 17.0 percent. Seattle placed third with 4.0 percent of the vote and the Silicon Valley area placed fourth with 3.2 percent of the vote.
Voters said that “strength in research” was the most important factor in their choice – 88.5 percent saying it was important in their decision, while 39.3 percent mentioned “strength in finance”: and 36.0 percent cited “early stage company hotbed”.
