In Kentucky, Governor Steve Beshear has formed an Executive Task Force on Biomass and Biofuels Development in Kentucky. According to a report in Ethanol Producer, the task force held its initial meeting last week and set a state goal of 25 million tons of biomass annually by 2025 (10 million for fuel, 15 million for power) and a 2025 target of 775 million gallons per year, or 12 percent of state transportation fuel needs. The state currently produces 12 million tons of biomass.
The task force is to make a report to the governor by November 30. Members include legislators, academics and trade association and industry executives.
