“Algaeus”, 150 mpg algae-powered hybrid heads for DC; member of Congress, celebs on hand for demos
In Washington, this Thursday, Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), the co-chairman of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, and Members of Congress will join with the Veggie Van Organization to greet the “Algaeus,” the plug-in hybrid vehicle powered by algae-based fuel. Actor James Kyson Lee from ABC’s “Heroes,” and CJ Warner, President of Sapphire Energy, will also be on hand.
The Algaeus is rated at 150mpg and is expected to complete its cross-country trip on about 25 gallons of gasoline in just 10 days. The tour kicked off in San Francisco and finishes in New York City on Friday, September 18. The event will be at 12:30pm at New Jersey Ave. and C Street, SE, on the South of the Cannon and Longworth House Office Buildings. The Algaeus will be on site and available for demonstrations.
