BioJet, E85 announce 4 million gallon contract for Bio-SPK aviation biofuels

In California, BioJet Corporation and E85 announced that they have executed a Bio-SPK forward contract for the sale by BioJet and the purchase by E85 of 4 million barrels of aviation bio jet fuel.

Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene, or “Bio-SPK” is the aviation industry term for bio jet fuel and the fuel delivered under this contract will meet ASTM International specifications. Other than quantity, the terms of the contract were undisclosed.

The companies said that they expect demand for aviation biofuels to exceed 280 million barrels annually, and said that they expect jatropha to be the short-term primary aviation biofuels feedstock.
