In Rwanda, the national government has announced plans to construct a 29 Mgy biodiesel plant, after a successful trial of a 2 Mgy facility run by the Rwandan Institute of Scientific and Technological Research.
The pilot plant at Kigali has successfully used palm, jatropha, moringa, castor and soy oils, although oil palm and jatropha are being planted as feedstocks for the higher production levels. Avocado is also being investigated by the ISTR as a potential feedstock.
