Biofuels Digest Index plunges 3.59 percent on broad market jitters, while Biofuel Energy soars

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, plunged 3.59 percent 61.99 on a broad renewables fall. For the day, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) fell  1.23 percent to close at $28.86, while BP fell 2.72 percent to 51.78. Among small caps, PetroAlgae (PALG.OB) fell 37.50 percent to $15.00. Overall, declines led advances 2 to 1 for the day.

Meanwhile, shares of ethanol producer BioFuel Energy (BIOF) jumped 62 percent yesterday after the company reported major progress in debt restructuring.
