In Cambodia, Te Haing Development announced that it will supply dried cassava for ethanol production to South Korea’s MH Bio-Energy Group. In related news, MH said that it had invested $1 million to build a 5-hectare air dry facility, and Te Haing will grow a portion of the export crop itself as well as aggregate cassava from local growers.
The contract calls for 24,000-36,000 tonnes of cassava per year at $92 per tonne. Te Haing will grow cassava for the contract on a 2,470-acre plantation in Banteay Meanchey province. Local growers will receive $38-$44 per tonne for fresh cassava.
