San Diego, CARB officials kick off 2009 Algal Biomass Summit

In California, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and CleanTECH San Diego CEO Lisa Bicker participated in the kick-off of the Algae Biomass Summit 2009 yesterday afternoon.

According to CleanTECH, since the 2007 launch of the mayor’s Cleantech Initiative including Sapphire Energy, General Atomics, SAIC, Biolight Harvesting and Synthetic Genomics among algal fuel pioneers. The cleantech industry is now generating $30 million in local economic activity, according to event organizers.
