In Ukraine, the national government has approved a policy to reduce gas prices for the sugar industry; the move will facilitate improved economics for conversion of sugar beets into food and fuel, noting that gas represents 30 percent of the cost of converting beets to biofuel.
The government said that it would support a year-long drive to modernize and optimize sugar beet production for biofuels.
