Louisiana researchers project $7.5 billion in US savings from new LTU process

In Louisiana, researchers at Louisiana Tech University have developed a nanotechnology-based process to immobilize the enzymes used in cellulosic ethanol, allowing numerous reuses. The team estimates savings of $32 million per ethanol plant and $7.5 billion in total savings across the 16 billion gallons of cellulosic ethanol capacity.
