In Michigan, GlobalLink Network, local investors and Soy Ultima have proposed a $25 million project to develop a soy biodiesel plant on the former Buick City propoerty owned by General Motors in Flint. The 200-acre project, according to the developers, would create up to 600 new jobs, although they cautioned that they are still in early negotiations with the EPA for permits to develop the brownfield site.
Soybeans are the second largest crop in Michigan with $500 million in annual production, according to a report from MLive.
