In New Zealand, Solid Energy reported that it produced 12,500 tonnes of wood pellets and 193,000 gallons of waste cooking oil biodiesel in the past year, saying that its biodiesel business struggled in the 2008-09 fiscal year due to changes in national mandates, poor yields from rapeseed crops and falling biodiesel rices. However, the company said that it would invest $35 million in new wood pellet production plant under it’s Nature’s Flame brand.
