In Tanzania, the national government suspended all biofuels investments following news of a impending and scathing report from Envirocare, on the impact of jatropha investment.
Advance highlights of the study, which appeared in The East African newspaper, highlighted that “The government was asleep. We have to stop and set out clear procedures for biofuel investments,” according Esther Mfugale, the coordinator of biofuel production for Tanzania’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives, as quoted in The East African.
