Today in Biofuels Opinion: “Apples to apples, ethanol proves itself the best alternative to both gasoline and electric-driven vehicles.”

Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy: “Apples to apples, ethanol proves itself the best alternative to both gasoline and electric-driven vehicles, considering the greenhouse gas emissions of fossil fuels such as crude oil, or in the case of plug-in cars, coal. What may surprise some is the National Academy of Sciences report’s conclusion that electric vehicles showed higher rates of [heath threat]  than corn ethanol both because electricity-generation depends on fossil fuels and because of the cost and energy put into creating the battery.”

Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger of California: “I applaud the Disneyland Resort for their wonderful commitment to our state’s commerce and environment. They are an inspiration to many and I thank them for their outstanding leadership,” Note: Disneyland Resort has won the 2009 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA), California’s
highest and most prestigious environmental honor, in recognition of its Paradise Bay Refill project, 10,000-square-foot eco-friendly central bakery, and the switch of Disneyland Railroad’s steam boilers to biodiesel made from the processed cooking oil used in restaurants throughout the Resort.
