Texas study finds younger scientists, legislators getting info from internet; calls for better distribution of science-based news
In Texas, a report on media and agriculture information found that younger researchers and the public are increasingly turning to the internet to obtain information about science and agriculture – but the public expressed a dsire that “scientists be more open, sharing their scientific knowledge through information sources such as mass media.” For an issue as debated as agricultural biotechnology, the study found that communicating factual scientific information is a necessary ingredient in public acceptance. The report appears in the Journal of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Education and will, ironically, be available free and online only for 30 days, here.
