US Agricultural Sectretary Vilsack aims for Philippine-US research partnership for biofuels
In the Philippines, US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said that the US is hoping to partner with the Philippines on biofuel research. “We are looking at a relationship and partnership with the Philippines in terms of research on biofuels. We recognize and appreciate that you’re faced with the same challenges we’re faced with. You don’t want to be reliant on one form of energy, energy that you do not necessarily control,” said Vilsack. “That’s one relationship that we can get at, the biofuel business and I’m sure that we’ll continue to share information, knowledge and discoveries,” Vilsack said. The Secretary was leading a trade and investment mission to the Philippines, and announced that the US government will provide $8.5 million in food aid to the victims of the recent storms and floodjng in Luzon.
