Ethanol crush spread strengthens after corn falls, ethanol flat, oil rising

In Illinois, corn retreated from last week’s high prices, while oilis rising and ethanol was flat — another strong wee for the ethanol “crush spread” between the price of corn and ethanol.

For the week, the December corn contract finished at $3.66, down $0.31 for the week, while ethanol was at $1.935, down $0.02 for the November contract. Oil crept up ti $77 in New York on belief that improving economies will strengthen energy demand.
